The world needs you. The stakes are rising on all fronts, and an urgency is upon us to take action. It is an illusion if we think someone else will fix the world. It is by the will of the people. We have to unite! We have more power than we realize, but too much of it is cast aside or used in a way that fuels the chaos.  If we rely on someone else to do something to fix this we will be waiting forever. No one else is coming. We are already here. Now, let’s do something about it!

In order to make a real difference we have two tasks:

1. Greater Empowerment – Wake up to our power and use it.
2. Greater Understanding – Wield it from a foundation of love and compassion.

The world must change. We cannot abide the violence. We cannot abide the poverty, the injustice, the suffering. If we want things to change we must become the Love Warrior and take action in the world. It is up to each of us to stand up to injustice. To empower others, and fight for those who cannot stand for themselves.

Across the political spectrum, no matter your beliefs and opinions, we are united as humans. We cannot allow ourselves to lose our humanity. We sit by when we see the humanity stripped from our brothers and sisters. We must stand for it.

The Battle is Within

There is a battle within each of us, and we must recognize our own responsibility within the bigger picture. This isn’t a battle between us and them. It may appear this way, with opposing factions, struggling to come to common ground. Republicans vs democrats, liberals vs conservatives – the opposing sides. This reinforces a separation, sets us up in a competition, for winners and losers. It makes it easier to point fingers and blame. It hides the fact that we are all humans, error-prone and worthy of love. It distracts us from the real battle that is at the heart of it all, and harder to recognize. More cunning and deceptive.

We are all facing a common enemy that stalks in the shadows of the mind, whispering words of fear and doubt. It knows our weaknesses and presses them, manipulating our thoughts, driving divisiveness. Thriving on chaos and pain. This voice chokes out compassion. It crushes hope. It leads to apathy and inaction. When we realize the enemy is not the person before us, we can maintain their humanity. We can respond with compassion. This is crucial if we are going to make real change.

Our enemy lives in the shadows of the mind. We must wake up the heart, stoke the fire, and let the light of the human heart

​shine. The heart must lead the way. We must empower the hearts of humanity.

If we are not vigilant, the shadow of the mind will drive us in circles. Crushing our hearts with fear and pain. Each one of us on our own personal journey through hell.

We don’t have time for that. There is no more time to waste. The planet needs us all to wake up and fight for the light!

The task is on our shoulders to bring the love. Remind ourselves and others of who we are as humans. Love is stronger than hate. We must reach the heart of humanity. This is how we navigate out of the firestorm and into a more peaceful world. This is how we make a foundational change.

3 Steps to Take Right Now:

1. Recognize Your Energy and How You Spend It – We must be aware of our energy, and be smart about how we spend it. This is about strategy. It is easy to waste energy on drama and pointing fingers. It leads to anger and hopelessness, and doesn’t get anything done. We don’t have time for that. 
   • What actions can you take from a place of higher understanding to shift the energy, and come from a place of love?​ Make this your compass, and refer to it often to keep yourself in alignment.
   • Use discernment to see the big picture: what is the impact of your action? Is it building bridges or stoking a divide? Is it honoring the humanity of others? Is it coming from a place of love for all people?
   • Be skeptical and challenge your attachment to your opinions. Be informed, yet think for yourself.
   • Don’t get swept up in the drama. What is helpful / useful? What is noise? Be cautious of your energy and take time to care for yourself so you can stay strong and have the energy to do the work.

   • Take action in your community. It is up to us to act. Reflect on the effectiveness of your action and adjust course as necessary.

2. Reach Out to People  – We need more connection. Our communities need healing, and it is up to all of us to take action. Sometimes this means having difficult conversations. Leading with the heart to listen to others, without judgement. To bring curiosity and understanding as you listen to another person’s experience. To lead with your heart, bringing compassion and love into every experience.Find opportunities to connect with people every day. Reach out to people who are seemingly different. People with different beliefs, opinions, and backgrounds. People from different cultures and experiences. Listen to them. Hear their stories.Explore ways to cultivate healing within your community in a more organized way. Become an agent of love, building bridges and sewing seeds of hope. There is so much more that unites us than divides us.
3. Show that You Care – Give your attention. Seek out those who feel forgotten and let them know they matter. Listen. Be present. Do not underestimate the power of this simple gift. Friends, family, acquaintances, strangers – in a world overflowing with stimulus, there is a thirst for the simple connection of attention and presence.

A single flame in a dark room illuminates. The light is much stronger than the darkness. Believe in your light. Shine it. Do not let fear of rejection, doubt, apathy, confusion, or anything that comes from the mind stop you from unabashedly sharing your love with the world. We are in need of heart-based leadership on all levels: personal, local community and beyond!
